Store Your Coffee

We package and ship all of our fresh roasted coffee beans in sealed 1lb. foil packages with one-way gas valves, which let residual gases from the roasting process out, but prevent freshness-robbing air from getting in. Beans stored in unopened packages will remain fresh for several months, as indicated on the “Enjoy by” date printed on the label.

Air and moisture are the enemies of coffee, and coffee that is exposed for long periods to either one will start to stale and lose that “fresh roasted” flavor and aroma very quickly.  Once you open your package of beans, we recommend that the coffee be transferred to a tightly sealed, airtight container and stored in a cool, dark place (such as a pantry cabinet). We do not recommend refrigeration, as moisture can seep in, forming condensate that stales the beans. It is OK (but not ideal) to freeze coffee for longer term storage if it is wrapped very well in air and moisture proof packaging. However, once you remove it from the freezer and let it thaw, it should not be refrozen.
