Gold Country Roasters is an independent, specialty coffee roastery and café located in the heart of California’s historic “Gold Country” in the charming town of Murphys. Originally opening in 2012, Gold Country Roasters has been known for serving high quality coffees and upholding exceptional customer service.

In 2022, The Tourist Hat Coffee Company proudly purchased Gold Country Roasters with a goal to maintain its beloved identity in the heart of its community while still expanding and growing both brands.

Tourist Hat Coffee Company is a family owned and operated business with a heart for community, a passion for giving back, and of course, a love for coffee. We strive to offer quality-roasted beans with top-notch customer service while dedicating time and money to being a positive impact in our community.

Murphys, CA is the perfect home home to continue this mission.

With a warm and welcoming atmosphere, superb handcrafted beverages and snacks, indoor and outdoor seating, plentiful parking and free WiFi, GCR has become THE place in Murphys for the community to meet and gather.

On any given day, you may find a student writing a paper on his laptop; a marketing consultant working on her client’s blog; a wedding planner meeting with clients to choose their menu and floral arrangements; the regular morning “coffee klatch” of retirees having coffee before their group walk around town; a local pastor working on his Sunday sermon; visitors from near and far exploring Murphys and its environs; various groups and organizations holding their monthly meetings; husbands killing time while their wives browse in the nearby knit shop . . . as well as lots of local folks who just enjoy catching up with their friends over a good cup of coffee.
